A missed pickup spends one charge and grants 0.5 seconds of protection. Further misses in that window cost no extra charges. Charges stack across rounds of the current run. Every new run starts with zero.
The first offer comes early in your second run. Later offers are rare. Missing a lifeline is harmless; chasing one may cost multiple regular pickups.
Your wardrobe and best records stay saved. Lifelines belong only to the run in which you collect them.

What carries between runs?

Missing an ordinary spark costs two combo levels. Optional burst sparks never reduce combo. Shield breaks halve combo; at Shield level 5 they cost only two levels.
Glow and trails are decorative. Your solid centre is the same size with every skin. Collecting rewards never increases difficulty.
